2020 has certainly challenged us all. At College, while we expected to continue to develop our educational experiences as we do each year, little did we know that we would be moving to a remote learning model before the end of Term 1. It has been daunting at times, and at other times exciting, as we navigated new technologies and adapted to our new reality. It has been pleasing to see confidence, resilience and creativity demonstrated daily.
In addition to the remote learning platforms, the College has sought to provide community building platforms and activities for students, staff, parents and Old Collegians alike, and to support our Community through business networking and mentoring, a choir and a wellbeing blog to help people connect even though they are isolated.
We know that many of our community are acutely impacted financially by the COVID-19 pandemic. After careful consideration, we have decided to reach out to our donors to ask for your support, as we do each year. We recognise that your own circumstances, or that of your family may have changed, and that you may not be able to give a gift. We want you to know that we understand and are grateful for your support of the College. If, however, you can help us in some small way we would be enormously grateful.
This year, rather than asking for help for priority projects, we are simply asking you to help students, whose families have been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. We believe no student should miss out on the benefits of a Geelong College education due to financial hardship, and your gift, be it large or small, will go a long way in helping these families who need assistance with fees. Of course, if you prefer, you can give to the Building Fund, the Dr Bill Williams Tjungurrayi Scholarship Fund or to The Geelong College Foundation.
