Be of Courage

For this is the way to the stars

Since 1861 we have challenged our students to be of courage, in their thoughts, actions and words. Sic itur ad astra, our school motto, comes from Virgil’s “Aeneid” Book IX,. 641. The full quote is “macte nova virtute, puer! (blessing on your new bravery, boy!) sic itur ad astra” (this is the way to the stars). From this we are inspired to Be of Courage.
