In addition to providing opportunities for you to reconnect with the school and your former classmates through reunions and events, we offer mentoring opportunities and more general networking to continue to help you make the most of your connection to this community. Below you will find a short introduction to our networking and mentoring platform, Geelong College Connect and information about the Old Collegians' Committee.
The Thought Leaders speaker series is brought to you by The Old Geelong Collegians' Association (OGCA). In each episode we speak with an Old Collegian who is a leader in their chosen field, with an interesting story to tell.
These episodes are recorded via Microsoft Teams as an interactive speaker event with members of our community listening live at home, with the opportunity for a Q and A session at the conclusion.
We are excited to have launched our new networking and mentoring platform at www.geelongcollegeconnect.com.
It is very easy to register just using your LinkedIn or Facebook accounts so there is no need to remember a password each time you login.
This is a very interactive platform allowing you as a community member to:
• Post messages.
• Connect with school friends.
• Register for upcoming events.
• Add photos to tell your story.
• Post on the jobs board to recruit for your business.
• Offer help to fellow community members.
• Seek advice or a mentor.
Not only will the OGCA community allow you to seek or give professional careers advice but it will also be an extraordinary resource for our current students for work experience, career guidance and work place mentoring.
The Old Geelong Collegians’ Association (OGCA) hosts a large number of events each year. These include cocktail functions in the College Dining Hall for alumni after 10 year, 20 years, and 30 years. We also host lunches for alumni after 40 years and our Sic Itur function for 50 years plus.
The OGCA also organises the OGC’s V OGG annual golf day at Barwon Heads, the Albert Bell Club dinner, an OGCA staff cocktail party, Dunkeld races and a Melbourne and Sydney reunion function each year. We also hold a Hong Kong reunion each March. In partnership with the College we also hold annual cocktail parties in Warrnambool and Hamilton.
Over alternate years we hold functions in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and Albury.
We are always happy to hear your ideas and feedback regarding our reunions and events and would encourage you to contact the OGCA at any time.Photos and further details, including dates and booking information for these events, can be found at www.geelongcollegeconnect.com.
Former students have the opportunity to join OGCA sporting teams, not only to keep in touch with their old school friends, but to make new connections in the community. The OGs field teams in men’s and women’s football, netball, cricket and tennis.
Communication between the school and former students is through the Ad Astra magazine, which is published twice a year (December & June), Old Geelong Collegians’ Association Facebook, our Geelong College Connect newsletter, and our alumni website Geelong College Connect.
