Learn-to-Swim Update

Dear Members,

Thank you once again for your support of the Recreation Centre and all of the new procedures.

Unfortunately following the Victorian Government’s announcement yesterday regarding Level 3 restrictions for Regional Victoria, The Geelong College Recreation Centre will be ceasing operation effective Wednesday at 11.59pm until at least Thursday 17 September, with any reopen date to be confirmed.

Our Learn-to-Swim program will finish after lessons on Wednesday 5 August, Learn-to-Swim students will be given a credit for the remainder of the program missed due to the closure.

We hope to start our Learn-to-Swim program in Term 4 and are planning for various scenarios. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available and we are able to confirm our plans.

If the term is still effected by the closure of the Centre in Term 4, payments made will be credited to the student.

Any correspondence required relating to our Learn-to-Swim can be directed ltsadmin@geelongcollege.vic.edu.au or by contacting the Centre on 5226 3129.

Learn-to-Swim

The Geelong College Recreation Centre Learn-to-Swim program is one of the foremost swim schools in the Geelong region. We pride ourselves on our program delivery, with passionate staff who are committed to providing a safe and positive environment for all members of our community. Our well-maintained and clean facilities provide a healthy space for people of all ages to develop a love of swimming.

The Recreation Centre has programs that will suit all abilities, with four types of programs on offer: Swim & Survive program, Intensive Learn-to-Swim, Squad programs and adult Learn-to-Swim.

Our goal is to develop each swimmer to:

  • Be water confident
  • Develop knowledge of water safety
  • Learn survival skills
  • Have correct swimming technique
  • Increase fitness and endurance

Our 1m and 3m diving boards provide us with the unique opportunity to offer a Diving program. We provide Level 1 diving coaches for this program, with the aim of developing our students into competition divers.

Our goal is to instill children with a life-long relationship with the water by providing high quality, developmentally sound swimming instruction in a fun, safe environment while emphasising outstanding customer service.

We will instill children with a life-long connection with the water by promoting a love of the water, building confidence in aquatic skills, and establishing a secure foundation for water safety and personal fitness.

We will provide outstanding customer service by keeping our customers informed, listening to and understanding their needs and concerns, valuing our relationship with them, and making them feel welcome.

For more information on these programs contact our centre on 5226 3129 or by email ltsadmin@geelongcollege.vic.edu.au
