Surf Lifesavers Star in State Competition

Geelong College students have represented their respective clubs with pride and numerous podium finishes during the Life Saving Victoria Senior State Championships at Apollo Bay on Saturday 24 March.

The day saw competitors from 34 surf lifesaving clubs come together for events for Under-15s and above. Ocean Grove took out the overall club honours.

Highlights for the College's lifesavers included:

  • Grace Harris (Year 11, Torquay) - 1st open surf board; 2nd open iron woman; 1st U17 iron woman, surf board & surf board relay; 2nd U17 single ski, surf board rescue & surf teams; 3rd U17 surf race
  • Ben Harris (Y11, Torquay) - 2nd U17 surf teams & taplin relay, 3rd U17 single ski relay & surf board relay
  • James Paterson (Y11, Ocean Grove)- 2nd U17 beach run, 3rd U17 surf teams & taplin relay, 2nd U19 surf teams
  • Pia Falk (Y11, Port Campbell) - 2nd U19 surf boat

  • Archie Vernon (Y10, Torquay) - 2nd U17 iron man, rescue tube race, surf teams & taplin relay; 3rd U17 single ski relay, surf board, surf board relay & surf race
  • Max Mauderer (Y10, Anglesea) - 3rd U15 beach flags
  • Skye Ellis (Y9, Jan Juc) - 3rd U15 2km beach run
  • Ella Willson (Y8, Ocean Grove) - 2nd U15 cameron relay

  • Tristan Read (The Geelong College Recreation Centre Manager, Lorne) - 1st open surf teams, 3rd open surf belt
