Year 11 Geelong College student Ned McHenry has been awarded a scholarship to the NAB AFL Academy.

Ned was among seven promising young footballers who were selected into the academy as part of the AFL's second intake, following a first intake of 25 players.

Admission into the program is a fantastic achievement for Ned, who's a member of the College 1st Football Team, the Geelong Falcons' TAC Cup U18 premiership team, and Vic Country's team for the National Championships as a bottom-age player.

The talented midfielder and elite endurance athlete will come under the guidance of academy head coach Luke Power and assistant coaches Brad Johnson, Peter Sumich and Brent Harvey.

The program involves accelerated football and personal development camps to be held in Australia and overseas over the next 12 months, with the first camp taking place in Darwin next month. There will also be a trip to Florida, USA, where players will train at the renowned IMG Academy.

Congratulations, Ned!
