Join Our Community on National Tree Day!

The Geelong College Foundation and the Year 4 Enviro program are joining forces to host a Community Planting Day on National Tree Day, Sunday 30 July from 9am.

The event will take place on the banks of the Barwon River on a magnificent holding of land at Fyansford acquired by the Foundation in 2013, where we planted 1325 trees last year during the inaugural Community Planting Day.

This year, 1500 indigenous plants have been purchased for us to engage with the land as an educational resource.

WHEN: Sunday 30 July, 9am-1pm (do not feel obliged to stay for the whole time – turn up with friends and family and stay as long as you like)
warm clothing, sturdy shoes, gloves, a warm drink, a small plate to share. Gardening equipment will be supplied, although you can bring your own.

The day will include a series of informative short talks from a range of local experts who will bring the land to life with their stories and perspectives on this unique property.

Put the date in your calendar and sign up your family and friends using this link for what promises to be a fun and worthwhile community event on the banks of our own beautiful Barwon River.

The College Foundation block is very easy to find and is only a few minutes away from the College! Head along Aberdeen Street down the deviation, underneath the freeway and along the Hamilton Highway for a few kilometres – there will be a sign on Merrawarp Rd corner pointing the way. Parking will be on site. The gate off Merrawarp Rd and the route to the planting site will be clearly marked.
