Scholarships

Year 7

A. For entry to Year 7 - The Geelong College Scholarship

The Geelong College Scholarship, covering full tuition fees for six years, may be awarded to an outstanding young student entering Year 7. The school wishes to support the education of a young person who would otherwise not be able to attend The Geelong College. Current College students are not excluded from applying for this scholarship but there must be a demonstrated financial need.

The Geelong College scholar will be of outstanding academic ability but also a rounded “citizen” prepared to contribute enthusiastically and meaningfully to the fuller life of the College.

The successful applicant will be required to achieve an excellent score in the ACER tests, submit supporting documentation such as school reports and evidence of a wide range of interests and undergo an interview with the Principal. Further details will be forwarded to the short-listed candidates.

The academic and general progress of The Geelong College Scholar will be reviewed annually.

B. For entry to Year 7 - Foundation Scholarship

A Foundation Scholarship, generously endowed by The Geelong College Foundation, covering full tuition fees for six years, is made available every two or three years to a student of outstanding academic ability who may not otherwise be able to attend the College. Please note that current College students may not apply for this scholarship.

While the successful applicant's expected to be of excellent academic ability, willingness to contribute meaningfully to College life and other talents will also be taken into consideration.

The successful applicant will be required to achieve an excellent score in the ACER tests, submit supporting documentation such as school reports and evidence of a wide range of interests and undergo an interview with the Principal. Further details will be forwarded to the short-listed candidates.

The academic and general progress of the Foundation Scholar will be reviewed annually.

C. For entry to Year 7

Incorporating the John Bell Armstrong, John Lang Currie, James Boyd, Norman Murray and Margaret Venters Scholarships.

Two scholarships, valued at two terms’ tuition fees per annum and tenable for six years, may be awarded based on results in the ACER tests.

The academic and general progress of the scholarship holder will be reviewed annually.

PLEASE NOTE THAT SCHOLARSHIP HOLDERS ARE NOT ENTITLED TO OTHER CONCESSIONS SUCH AS SIBLING DISCOUNT.
