Senior School
Years 11 and 12
VCE
The College’s commitment to educating the ‘whole child’ continues in Years 11 and 12. Small classes, expert tuition, leadership opportunities and a rich curriculum are all features of the final two years of schooling. Students balance their academic studies with a variety of sporting, social and co-curricular activities and are well on the way to becoming well-rounded, confident young adults. A pleasantly appointed Common Room where Year 12 students can relax, read and study becomes a focus of life for many.
The Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) is an internationally recognised university entrance qualification and adapts well to the individual needs of students. An extensive curriculum of around 30 subjects is offered, in addition to which we facilitate vocational study off-campus for a section of Years 11 and 12 students. The extensive choice thus offered enables students to select subjects best suited to their interests, capabilities and anticipated career paths. The Geelong College has a consistent record of excellent academic results in the VCE examinations.
Students assume a variety of leadership positions and major roles in their final year. School Prefects make a contribution to school life through their allocated portfolios, House Captains organise multifaceted activities for their fellow students and a Year 12 Advisory Committee debates issues of vital interest to the school. A Year 12 Current Affairs program also exposes senior students to inspiring guest speakers who inform, motivate and challenge them.
A well-resourced Careers Centre located in the heart of the school provides up-to-date vocational guidance and information about tertiary courses and further education opportunities.
