Preparatory School
Campbell House (Prep to Year 3)
Campbell House offers students a challenging, supportive and secure beginning to their formal schooling. The physical setting, with classrooms clustered around a central courtyard, creates a lovely village-like atmosphere. An adjoining fantasy playground and oval offer welcome spaces for running and playing and organised sporting activities. The classroom interiors are also inviting. Workstations have replaced desks, allowing flexibility in classroom configurations and fostering both collaborative and private learning.
At Campbell House, the Reggio Emilia philosophy is also apparent. Young people there are encouraged to learn by seeking out the information they require. They have their own library where they can access books and a range of digital information. Information technology is effectively integrated into classroom programs, creating opportunities for sourcing, analysing and interpreting information.
The focus is on the development of literacy and numeracy skills to build a foundation for future learning. A well-structured curriculum together with teaching in small groups and using differentiated programs enable students’ needs to be variously met.
Our children’s confidence is developed and their experiences expanded through a range of enriching specialist subjects. Expert and passionate specialist staff bring Music, Drama, Art, French and Physical Education to life. An outstanding Music program has children composing and playing from an early age. In Year 2, all will learn a stringed instrument and begin performing in the Campbell House String Orchestra.
